MOST AUXILIARY SERVICES SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
A MESSAGE FROM UHNBC AUXILIARY PRESIDENT LINDY STEELE
As most people know, the Auxiliary to UHNBC had to shut down all of its operations, in the hospital on March 16. It was a very hard decision but necessary. Just because our operations were shut down does not mean the Auxiliary was not still serving this community.
With the uncertainty surrounding this virus, funds for purchasing equipment and supplies were vital. Within a few hours of a motion going out more than half of our members ( 82 final total) approved a donation of $20,000. to Northern Health to be used to purchase whatever they need to serve us and protect their employees. The money is available instantly which goes a long way to reduce anxiety.
Our members also continue to knit and sew to keep themselves busy. When word went out that hospital staff could use more caps, our quilters and sew…ers (we need a new word for that) jumped at the chance to help and have produced more than 60 caps in a matter of days.
All in all, isolation is difficult but the Auxiliary to UHNBC is doing everything they can to contain this virus and to help in any way they can. I am so proud to be able to say I am one of them.
